Prices bounce strongly at Bairnsdale

Ian Lester of King Island, Tasmania, (pictured with Ken Skews of Ensay) bought 13 EU-accredited Hereford steers, 10-12-months-old, sent in by Mr Skews. He paid $680 a head. Part of his twice-annual cattle buying mission, Mr Lester walked away from Bairnsdale on Friday with 63 Hereford and Charolais steers for himself and partner Denise O'Keefe and another 11 for his uncle.

PRICES continued to come back strongly at the Bairnsdale combined agents' store cattle sale last Friday, where a lot of good quality weaner stock was offloaded.
