Swan Hill Regional Livestock Exchange's prime sheep sale yesterday had a much larger yarding than a fortnight ago.
There were 1442 suckers, 5082 lambs and 2945 mutton sheep penned. The sale saw the start of the sucker season which in turn saw a good turnout of buyers with strong demand throughout the sale.
An exceptional yarding of heavy lambs sold firm on prices from two weeks ago reaching $190 a head. Secondary lambs eased slightly by $2-$5/head.
A larger supply of new season lambs saw extra buyer competition with heavy sucker lambs selling up to $155/head and most sucker lambs selling around $6.20/kg mark.
A large yarding of mutton saw heavy mutton ease slightly and light mutton selling to strong demand ranging between $55-$75/head.
