THE state of Victoria's roads, loading facilities and other safety issues will be discussed by the State's livestock transporters at their Ballarat conference, which starts tomorrow.
Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Victoria president John Beer said about 100 members were expected to attend the conference at Ballarat Lodge.
Mr Beer said the state of Victoria's roads would be a key area of discussion.
"I think so, because I think there could be a lot more money spent on roads," Mr Beer said.
"The roads in the South West have been let go for the past few years, and down in Gippsland they are shocking."
Meanwhile, the Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) has called on all Federal parliamentarians to pass legislation which will release $2.1 billion in Roads to Recovery funding to local councils.
"The VFF is not taking sides on this issue; we simply want it resolved," VFF president Peter Tuohey said.
"The impact of poor road infrastructure can have dire consequences for freight operators as well as the safety of all Victorians who use our regional and rural road network."
The Federal Government withdrew the Roads to Recovery legislation from the Senate when it became clear it would not be passed.
Mr Beer said the push for clearer guidelines on loading ramps was also likely to be raised by members.
"Sometimes farmers think you have to bulldoze all the existing ramps – and that's not the case."
