The VFF Red Meat Road Show is in Dunkeld today, but it's next scheduled stop to Alexandra on Thursday has been cancelled.
VFF's Jacinta Pretty said it was the first time they had run the Red Meat Road Show and it was wonderful to have about 75 lamb and sheepmeat and beef producers at Dunkeld today.
"A lot of producers have both sheep and beef cattle, and instead of having to go to two separate events that might take two days out of the work week, they are able to pick and chose the sessions they go to at the road show," she said.
Because of the number of guest speakers and equipment and facilities needed to hold such an event, the number of people who RSVP'd to the Alexandra event did not make it viable.
Ms Pretty said the VFF was planning to reschedule the Red Meat Road Show to pull into the Alexandra/Mansfield area in the first half of next year.
Other events, including a pestivirus information evening, were being discussed for the region in coming months.
