Windsong Valley Firedragon of EP Cambridge Alpaca Stud shown by Catherine Lloyd of Balhannah, South Australia has claimed the supreme champion Huacaya title at the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show.
The top prize for the Suri breed was awarded to Kurrawa Same Same But Different of Kurrawa Alpacas shown by Robert, Ann and Natasha Clark, Bellbrae.
Gumbarwil Sulaiman of Gumbarwil Park shown by Richard Hermon, St Andrews was awarded Supreme Champion Fleece.
Held at Melbourne Showgrounds from Saturday, 12 to Sunday, 13 July, the 2014 Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show experienced a 30 per cent increase in entries, with more than 234 alpacas from 32 exhibitors competing.

Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) CEO Mark O’Sullivan said, “The RASV congratulates the three Supreme Champion winners from this year’s Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show.
“The calibre was incredibly high and the strong entries received reflects the need to celebrate and recognise the alpaca industry,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
The 2014 Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show was presided over by Australian Alpaca Association (AAA) accredited judges Ms Jude Anderson and Mr Peter Kennedy.
Conducted annually by the RASV, the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show showcases the industry’s best alpacas, and provides breeders with an opportunity to promote and
benchmark their studs.
Now in its second year as a stand-alone event, the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show provides exhibitors with an enhanced experience, including better access, a dedicated event space and valuable networking opportunities.
