A BELLBRAE alpaca stud dominated the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show on the weekend, returning home with a swag of trophies.
Family-owned Kurrawa Alpacas has taken home the top titles of supreme champion Huacaya with their entry Kurrawa Legends Armed N Dangerous, as well as supreme champion Suri for Kurrawa Ready Aim Fire.
The judging of the Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show took place on Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
The competition was split into three major sections; Huacaya, Suri and Fleece.
The supreme champion Huacaya and Suri both went to white sires from Kurrawa, which is situated on the Victorian surf coast and is home to about 450 alpacas.
Natasha Clark, Kurrawa, also received the title of most successful Suri exhibitor.
Glenda Bartlett, Surtierra, Chewton, was awarded supreme champion 'Fleece' for fleece from Surtierra Ferrerro, a medium brown male aged 18 months.
Most successful Huacaya exhibitor was awarded to P Walduck, Millduck Alpaca Stud, Harcourt North, near Bendigo.
Ms Walduck was also awarded champion senior male for a dark fawn Huacaya sire.
“The Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show saw some outstanding entries this year and RASV would like to congratulate all those who participated, in particular our three supreme shampion winners,” RASV CEO, Mark O’Sullivan said.
With 185 entries, the 2015 Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show was presided over by highly recognised and respected, Alpaca Owners Association certified international judge Sara Jane Maclennan.
