THE stock ownership feud between administrators of former live export company Carpenter International and three agent creditors continues, despite stock hitting the state's market.
A portion of the 1080 head of dairy heifers – worth an estimated $2 million – removed last month by Brian O'Halloran & Co, Warrnambool, J&J Kelly Stock Agency Pty Ltd, Warrnambool, and Wellington Livestock, Sale, from GG Feedlot quarantine in the Wimmera were expected to hit the Warrnambool market yesterday.
Of the stock removed, Stock & Land understands 480 head were advertised to be sold at a special Warrnambool prime cattle sale yesterday, however the sale was cancelled following an improved private offer from an interstate buyer.
There is still no resolution to administrators Grant Thornton Australia's Supreme Court writ which claims ownership and damages for the cattle that were removed by the agents from GG Feedlot without GTA's permission with the judgement deferred until June.
If the interstate deal for the cattle was accepted and the cattle subsequently sold, this would result in the money being deposited into a trust fund until after the Supreme Court judgement.
It is also understood, amajority of the 4100 cattle advertised by GTA's selling agent Dairy Livestock Services have been sold by private tender while 6500 head remain unsold in quarantine.
Grant Thornton Australia did not respond to calls or emails made by Stock & Land.
