REPEAT buyers were out in force at Rossander Angus' 20th On Property Autumn bull sale at Tullnagee on Tuesday.
The sale saw 28 of the 47 stud bulls offered were sold to a top of $5000 at an average of $2446.
The 29 month old top priced bull was purchased by Ryan Pastoral, Hawkesdale.
Gerard and Peter Ryan purchased Lot 10, Rossander Performer H377, to be used on their 150 cow herd.
"We purchased this bull for his looks and figures," Peter Ryan said.
"He is an all rounder."
"He will fit into our operation perfectly, as his temperament is great," Gerard Ryan said.
The top priced bull was by Rossander Performer D078 and out of Rossander Mildred weighing 860kg on the February 19.
Ryan Pastoral also purchased Lots 9 and 34.
His estimated breeding values of +6.4 for birth weight, +49 for 200-day weight, +87 for 400-day weight, +114 for 600-day weight and +0.6 for intramuscular fat were a positive for buyers on the day.
Another notable volume buyer was Melville Hallyburton, Hallyburton Farms, Cobden, who purchased five lots to a top of $4500, av $3050.
Mr Hallyburton has been buying bulls from Rossander for all their 20 years of production sales.
"I bought this bull for his overall conformation and temperament," Mr Hallyburton said.
"I am very happy with the bulls that I have bought over the years.
"My vealers always sell well at the store sales."
Stud principals Andrew and Alison Anderson commented on the fact that their bulls are all grassfed and have all been tested free of all known genetic defects.
"The bulls were well presented with many repeat buyers coming back," Mr Anderson said.
"As they are satisfied with the quality of bulls they purchase and their progeny."
Mr Anderson said that one client returns due to them topping the weaner sales for the last five years with Rossander blood.
Landmark auctioneer Andrew Sloan said people were very selective with their purchases, as they knew what bulls they wanted to purchase.
"It was disappointing that grassfed bulls are not attracting the attention of the buyers eye, when that is what they have asked for". Mr Sloan said.
