TWO of southern Australia’s best-known livestock identities are to take on new roles within the rapidly expanding Ruralco Group.
Peter Homann, currently Rodwells general manager, has been promoted to general manager southern operations for Ruralco, based in Hobart.
As well as being accountable for the Roberts business in Tasmania, Mr Homann will retain a national co-ordination role for Ruralco’s wool and livestock businesses.
Rob Bolton, formerly Rodwells operations manager, has been appointed general manager of Rodwells and Co. The Rodwells management team will now report directly to Mr Bolton. As Rodwells is part of Ruralco’s southern operations, Mr Bolton will report to Peter Homann.
The promotions are the result of an organisational review at multi-brand stock agency Ruralco Holdings.
Ruralco operates through a national footprint of businesses that specialise in rural merchandise, wool broking and livestock, real estate, fertiliser manufacture, stock feed and grain storage, distribution and handling and financial services.
Ruralco’s businesses around the country operate under their own brands including Rodwells; Southern Australia Livestock (SA); SEJ (Vic); Rawlinson and Brown (NSW); Davidson Cameron (NSW); Grant Daniel and Long (Qld); Primaries (WA); Savage Barker Backhouse (Qld) and other agencies and franchises. Other recent acquisitions are Swan Hill-based BR and C and a majority holding in Alice Springs-based Territory Rural McPherson.
Ruralco is also the parent of the 300-outlet rural products retailer Combined Rural Traders (CRT).
Ruralco Holdings managing director John Maher said both executives brought extensive agribusiness experience and knowledge to their respective positions.
“I congratulate Peter and Rob on their appointments and look forward to working with them in their new roles,” Mr Maher said.
“Their appointments are part of a national restructuring designed to further enhance Ruralco’s Australia-wide operations.”
Mr Bolton said he was delighted to be appointed Rodwells general manager and looked forward to working with Rodwells clients and branch team, which extends across 23 branches, including 18 in Victoria and southern NSW.
Rodwells operates business units across the key areas of livestock, wool, merchandise, water-broking, finance and real estate.
It is a major participant at livestock selling centres in Victoria and southern NSW, as well as operating the largest independent wool storage and selling centre in southern Australia.
