The National Breeding Objective Review team is coming to Maffra in Gippsland tonight (Monday, July 28).
For the first time, Australian dairy farmers have had a direct say on the next generation dairy herd as part of the review of the information now expressed by the Australian Profit Ranking.
Hundreds of people participated in Australia’s Longest Farmwalk and a sector-wide survey run by the Australian Dairy Herd Improvement Scheme (ADHIS) earlier this year. Now, it’s time to hear what dairy farmers said and see what changes are under investigation.
Once the National Breeding Objective Review is completed later this year, the results will be widely publicised and used to update indices so that the next generation herd is as productive and profitable as possible.
The meeting tonight gives an opportunity for further input into the National Breeding Objective Review. People are asked to arrive at 7pm for a 7.30pm start at the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) office at 1 Stratford Road, Maffra.
Michelle Axford of ADHIS will report on the latest research findings on the National Breeding Objective.
Please RSVP to Mal Sayers on 0428 443 549 or Bec Phelan on 0400 265 870.
