The third stage of Shane and Julie Flynn’s Mooramba Holsteins, Toolamba, complete dispersal was held today in Shepparton.
Strong competition from buyers from across the State and into the southern NSW dairy region saw the well-bred draft of 56 heifers, two cows and one bull sell to a top of $4600 and average $2743.22.
The sale started with a charity lot. The Flynn’s decided to donate all of the proceeds from Lot 1, Mooramba Jurus Dianne 16-ET, to Breast Cancer Research. The two-year-old heifer artificially inseminated (AI’d) to Sexed Canbee made $2600.
Mr Flynn said it was a way to thank the people who had supported them in stages one and two of the dispersal, and give to a charity that affected so many families.
The next cow in the ring, Mooramba Twist Dianne 18, topped the sale. The two-year-old heifer was sold to a buyer in Leongatha.
Barwo View Partnership, Nathalia, was the other volume vendor at the Dairy Livestock Services (DLS)-hosted sale.
Brent Smith represented the family farming enterprise at the sale. The 47 Holstein cows and heifers they sold topped at $3200 twice, both for Barwoview Informer Kate 560 and Barwoview Cardinal Dusty 3847, and av $2106.38.
A & S Mackie, Burn Brae, sold four Holstein cows, top $4800, av $4025.
Well-known dairy auctioneer Brian Leslie called the sale and afterwards said competition was good for the quality line-up offered.
