The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is calling on south-east Australian goat breeders to enter the 2014 Royal Melbourne Show Goat Competition, with entries now open.
Open to registered Boer and Dairy goats, the Royal Melbourne Show Goat Competition will be held during the Royal Melbourne Show.
Judging will take place in the Livestock Pavilion on Saturday, September 20 for Boer goats, and Wednesday, October 1 for dairy goats.
RASV chief executive Mark O’Sullivan said the RASV was committed to enhancing the experience for exhibitors and improving the competition.
“The RASV has made a number of changes to the competition format this year, such as moving the Dairy goat judging to the second week of the 2014 Royal Melbourne Show to allow for September kidding, and shortening the required stay times for all goat exhibitors," he said.
In response to exhibitor feedback, the RASV has introduced flexible arrival and departure dates, allowing exhibitors to reduce time spent away from their businesses.
Exhibitors will also be offered reduced truck parking fees, a free shuttle bus service from the park to the Livestock Pavilion and dedicated functions to relax and socialise prior to judging day.
The 2014 Royal Melbourne Show Goat Competition will be judged by a panel of industry experts.
Entries close on Friday, August 8.
Exhibitors can enter online at www.rasv.com.au/goats and receive a 10 per cent discount on entry fees.
